New Motion Labs Test Facility

Our state of the art R&D test centre for sprocket design performance analysis opened in Sheffield, UK in 2024.

The facility is one of the worlds leading sprocket research facilities with 26 rigs running with industrial, cycling and motorcycle, chains concurrently adding to our already existing world class knowledge base sprocket tooth design.

Our test rigs are able to test the lifetime and kinematics of chain drives and sprockets for a range of sizes and conditions.

High speed rig testing at the University of Kaiserslautern

Multiple tests were run comparing the performance of Enduo sprockets against conventional ISO sprockets to see how they both performaned at various torques and speeds.

  • Torques ranged between 100-400 Nm

  • Speeds ran from 2000-4600 rpm.

  • Tests were evaluating efficiency, chain and sprocket performance, chain slack and vibration.

How Enduo works

The Enduo sprocket enables a conventional roller chain to contact and engage on both sides of the sprocket tooth forming a load-bearing and a supporting pair, what we term Dual Engagement.

The Enduo sprocket engages a standard roller chain (eg ISO 606) in such a way as to make the chain engage the sprocket by Dual Engagement, leading to reduction in roller chain wear and dramatically extending lifetime.

How we independently validate Enduo

In collaboration with the University of Stuttgart, we have completed independent wear testing using identical standard roller chains (ISO 606) running on the the Enduo sprocket in comparison to the conventional ISO sprocket.

Artificial Intelligence for Pin Tracking

More of our current testing includes using Artificial Intelligence to detect and track how pins on our rigs engage with the sprocket over time. This utalizes transfer learning in order to accurately and effeciently idetify and predict the pins. This further helps validate our simulations and helps us imporve sprocket design.

How Enduo sprockets perform against conventional ISO profile sprockets

Running an ISO standard roller chain with Enduo sprockets is proven to increase the wear life of the roller chain by 3.5X, as shown in our independent tests on 10B-1 and 12B-1 chains conducted at the University of Stuttgart and IWIS.

Quality Control at New Motion Labs

We have invested in an Image Dimension Measuring System IM-8000 Series which is a state-of-the-art measurement tool designed for precise and automated dimensional analysis of our Enduo Industry sprockets.

This equipment is installed at our test facility in Sheffield, UK and it enhances our quality control processes, improving efficiency, supporting our licensee partners and our commitment to continued R&D development.
